The Mercedes C140, the evolution of the W140 S-Class in Coupe form is considered by many as the absolute pinnacle of Mercedes’s engineering and is arguably the last ‘over-engineered’ Mercedes. The C140 was crafted by the same man who was responsible for some of Mercedes’ finest cars, Bruno Sacco.

This vast coupe was well known for it's the soft-closing doors, automatic boot opening and electrically operated rearview mirror. Features that pretty much sum up the S-Class experience, where no manual labor is required while driving it. From the rear headrests to the steering wheel column, from the extendable seatbelt arms to the seats - everything was automatic or operated by a push of a button.

It is understood that this particular C140 generation CL600 coupe was specified new by prince Jefri of Bolkiah, the notorious playboy brother of the Sultan of Brunei when visiting London and the Mercedes showroom on London’s prestigious Park Lane. Unfortunately we are unable to provide supporting evidence. Supposedly the car was never collected by Prince Jefri and instead was first registered to Mr Fred Holgate of Colchester with a personalised registration of FHC 1. The car was then transferred into Fred’s brothers name, Marc Holgate in October 2019 until the current owner purchased the car from marque specialist's, Derrick Wells in December 2021 at just 6,240 miles.

Service records show a major service by Mercedes-Benz of Colchester at 6,170 miles in October 2012 with spark plugs, brake fluid, fuel and air filters, oil service, activated charcoal filter replacement, a new battery and key batteries, MOT and health check at a cost of £4,741.

In the last few years under current ownership the car has been used regularly and now shows just over 13,500 miles. The car had a major engine and gearbox service by Hexagon Modern Classics in April 2023 at a total cost of just shy of £4,000 that included all 12 spark plugs being changed, engine and gearbox oil service, brake fluid change and both front coil springs. Hexagon also fitted the car with the AMG wheels that the car wears today. The car is sold with its original wheels.

The bodywork, interior, engine bay and boot present inpecablly, as you would expect for a well maintained example with just over original 13,500 miles.

The C140 with the 6 litre V12 is a rare beast indeed, this car is made rarer by its impeccable original condition, owing to its low original mileage and excellent maintenance record.
