They don’t come much better than this. This is your opportunity to purchase one of the last ‘proper’ Defenders from Land Rover, in the highest-factory specification it could be ordered in, in near new condition. It still has that new car smell, a sign that this car has been cherished and appreciated rather than ‘abused’ as many Defenders were.
This late, 2015, low-mileage Defender on the 90" wheelbase with ‘Hard Top’ body in resplendent Aintree Green incorporates the top-of-the-line XS package. It features an upgraded interior with the optional Premium leather black leather seats with Alcantara headlining which still look as good as new. Other desirable XS options include air conditioning, electric windows and heated seats which provide a far more refined Defender experience. Bluetooth audio is also fitted via the Alpine stereo for music streaming and telephone calls through the built in speakers.
This car has benefitted from considerate owners, each ensuring the car is serviced to schedule by Land Rover dealer service centres without fail. On top of this, the car was treated to Ditrinol chassis rust protection to ensure this never becomes a problem, which unfortunately on so many Defenders is inevitable, not on this one. Showing just under 20,000 miles, this car is as close as you are likely to find as factory fresh.
The car wears stunning genuine SVX wheels in black with Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tyres (235/85R16) which together, along with the Aintree Green and Puma bonnet, give this car a sleek yet subtly aggressive and mean look which we think suits the car so well.
A first owner specified the optional, and extremely desirable, bulkhead delete; this replaces the bulkhead behind the driver and passenger seats, dividing the front cabin and loadspace, with a tubular bar, restoring structural rigidity to the body tub but also allowing for full access to the rear loadspace and maximum seat movement. It also looks fantastic. There is light tinting to the ‘Alpine’ roof windows which suits the car but could easily be removed if desired. The alcantara headlining and interior carpeting really helps to elevate the interior but also make this Defender a comfortable and quieter environment than almost any other Defender.
We have had the wing mirrors painted to body colour as we felt this lifted the car even further.
The wheels are unmarked, body has only minor, very light scratches in some areas but is largely unmarked and presents incredibly well for a car that is 8 years old and has done nearly 20,000 miles.
The 2.2 TDI ‘Puma’ Ford engine is smooth, reliable, pulls well and delivers excellent performance, as you would expect from one of the last evolutions of the original Defender which had been in production for 66 years. Finally ending production in January 2016 after 67 years since the first Land Rover Series 1 was introduced in 1949. Evolution is a wonderful thing.
The current owner has made available, by separate negotiation, a Defender related personal registration that references both the iconic 1st Land Rover, HUE and the last PUMA iteration, which would elevate the road presence even further.
This defender is made more appealing as VAT at 20% can be reclaimed on the purchase as a ‘commercial’ vehicle that has been owned by businesses throughout its 4 previous keepers.
This car wants for nothing and is ready for immediate purchase and viewing by appointment from our showroom near Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
